Four Middle School students participated in the Spanish Olympiad held at Dove Science Academy in OKC. Ella Kent performed a song and a dance, Irving Friedman performed a poem, Courtney Valencia made a poster of the Spanish Flag for the Art category, and Mark Lau represented our school for the Language/Grammar category. Congratulations to Irving Friedman who received First Place in the Poetry Category!

Congratulations Discovery Honors Choir!!!
On Saturday, May 4, twenty-eight members of the Discovery Honors Choir had the honor of being the opening act for The Acrobats of China at the New Shangai Theatre in Branson, MO. A professor of music from the College of the Ozarks served as a clinician to help prepare. This is the second year that our choir has had the honor of performing on a professional stage. They performed exceptionally well, and returned with a trophy for Outstanding Performance. Congratulations to our fabulous choir and Mrs. Fischer, we are proud of you!
Congratulations to our Middle school engineering team on earning fourth place in the OSU Tulsa Engineering Challenge. This competition, held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, taught students the basics of engineering. More than 200 students competed in this hands on experience in which students had a limited time to design their boats. Congratulations to our students!
Discovery School of Tulsa students competed in the Regional Science Fair in Wilburton at OESC on February 21 and 22, 2013. They earned one First place award, three Second place awards and four special awards. Additionally, two of these students qualified for the State Wide Science Fair.

Discovery School of Tulsa held a Black History assembly for all 3rd – 8th Grade students. During the assembly, students shared what Black History means to them and performed traditional African American music. Our special guest speaker was Dr. Ray Owens, who held an interactive presentation regarding the meaning of Black History month. We appreciate Dr. Owens taking out the time to come through heavy snow, in order to speak with our students!
Discovery School of Tulsa would like to thank Senator-Elect Jabar Shumate for visiting DST on Friday. During his visit, Mr. Shumate toured the school, met with students in the College Readiness and Leadership Program (CLRP), and observed several Science experiments. We appreciate Mr. Shumate taking out time from his busy schedule to meet with us and hope to see him again soon!
